Although an FM outsourcing relationship, especially a long-standing one, may seem satisfactory, do outsourced facilities management companies have incentives to save money and pass those savings along to you? Long-term contracts with promised savings can start off comfortably - but as with any relationship, raising new issues or optimizing that relationship can prove challenging. On the other hand, the numerous benefits of working with an FM service provider, whether in an integrated or hybrid model, can worth fighting for. So how do you strengthen the relationship for a win-win on both sides?

  • Contract models and what to include in outsourced agreement to ensure success
  • Holding an FM company accountable for savings
  • Weighing the pros and cons of Integrated Vs. Hybrid Models
  • Working with large FM companies vs. Local –is there a difference?
  • Determining responsibilities and liabilities

In 2017, L’Oréal USA received a Green Power Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The catalyst? A revolutionary initiative driven by L'Oréal's philosophy to pursue a local energy strategy that would have a positive impact in their neighboring communities.  After an 18-month research phase, the team identified a potential renewable energy production solution utilizing landfill gas, and the journey to achieving total carbon neutrality across all 21 domestic plants began. In this thought-provoking case study, explore the vital role procurement played in this innovative achievement, and what steps you can take to make a cleaner, brighter future for your facility.

2:10 pm - 2:35 pm Presentation | The Dotted Line: Global vs. Regional Contracts

Michele Thompson - Global Director, Sourcing and Procurement, Thomson Reuters
When an organization is contemplating a large commercial agreement or outsourcing arrangement covering multiple service locations, subsidiaries, or affiliates, it should consider the advantages and potential pitfalls of using a single global agreement versus local (or “site-specific”) agreement. The efficiencies and advantages  of a global approach are many - a single negotiation, centralized legal and business review, ease of amendment and standard provisions to name a few. Local or regional agreements, however, have their advantages as well, like location specific terms and more flexibility in negotiations. So what's the right choice for your function? Explore your options and how to execute them in this informative workshop.

2:10 pm - 2:35 pm Presentation | Supplier Diversity - Is it in Procurement’s DNA?

Supplier diversity programs came into existence when President Richard Nixon signed executive order 11625 in 1972 and focused on African Americans. In the 40+ years since then, the concept has become more inclusive, incorporating more ethnic minorities, women, veterans, the LGBT and disabled communities and other small businesses in the USA and sometimes abroad.  The programs’ focus upon diverse suppliers has also matured ranging from outreach to targeted and measured supplier development initiatives.  You may have communicated supplier diversity’s values: its relationships to the multiethnic consumer, its opportunities to identify innovation and how it supports corporate values. But… are we missing opportunities to support procurement’s larger objectives if supplier diversity (SD) programs are siloed and not aligned with the DNA of sourcing?

  • Are SD’s measurable goals aligned with the Operational Master Plan?
  • Are SD wins included in evaluations and opportunities for your teams development?
  • Are diverse suppliers included in SRM programs and opportunities?

  • Discuss policies for managing the GC’s procurement activities
